Mary Riner is the director of community relations for BASIS Independent McLean. She most recently chaired the committee to bring BASIS to DC, securing its charter, and led the parent recruitment efforts for the new school before serving as director of external relations for the entire BASIS.ed network. Previously. Mary was the marketing director for the Heritage Foundation’s No Excuses Campaign, which put a spotlight on high-performing, high-poverty schools across the country. Mary has a bachelor’s degree in Humanities from Washington College, studied at the University of St. Andrews in Scotland and did graduate work in The School of Philosophy at the Catholic University of America. She is also a founding board member of DC School Reform Now and the founder of America’s Future Foundation.
